What a Spanish invoice should include

A Spanish factura should show your name and NIF/NIE, the client’s details, a sequential invoice number, the date, and IVA at 21% standard (or 10% / 4% reduced) as a separate line — enter the rate in the Tax % field. Autónomos often also apply IRPF withholding on services to businesses; note that in the notes block if it applies to you.

For the universal essentials, see the full invoice checklist, or read how to invoice a client end to end.

Frequently asked questions

Do I add IRPF as well as IVA?

If you’re an autónomo invoicing a Spanish business, you usually add IVA (21%) and subtract IRPF withholding (a percentage retained by the client). This tool handles IVA via the Tax % field; note the IRPF retention in the notes so the total is clear.

What ID goes on a Spanish invoice?

Your NIF (or NIE for foreigners), plus a unique sequential invoice number and the date. Include them in the business and notes fields so the factura is valid for your client’s accounting.
