What a Indian invoice should include

A GST invoice in India should show your GSTIN, an invoice number and date, the place of supply, the HSN/SAC code, and GST split as CGST + SGST (intra-state) or IGST (inter-state). This free tool covers the core layout and totals — enter your combined GST rate in the Tax % field; for a fully compliant GST return you’ll also want the GSTIN and HSN/SAC fields, which Fee-Lion can store and reuse for you.

For the universal essentials, see the full invoice checklist, or read how to invoice a client end to end.

Frequently asked questions

What GST rate do I use?

It depends on the goods or services — common slabs are 5%, 12%, 18%, and 28%. Many professional services sit at 18%. Enter your applicable rate in the Tax % field and it’s itemised on the total.

CGST/SGST or IGST?

For a sale within your state, GST splits into CGST + SGST (half each); for an inter-state sale it’s a single IGST at the full rate. The combined percentage is the same — put it in the Tax % field; note the split in your notes if needed.
