What a French invoice should include
A French facture should show your name/SIREN, the client’s details, a sequential invoice number, the date, and TVA at 20% standard (or 10% / 5.5% reduced) as a separate line — put the rate in the Tax % field. Auto-entrepreneurs below the TVA threshold don’t charge it and add the mention “TVA non applicable, art. 293 B du CGI”.
For the universal essentials, see the full invoice checklist, or read how to invoice a client end to end.
Frequently asked questions
Do auto-entrepreneurs charge TVA?
Not until they pass the franchise-en-base threshold. Below it, you don’t add TVA and you include the note “TVA non applicable, art. 293 B du CGI”. Above it, charge 20% (or the reduced rate) via the Tax % field.
What identifiers go on a French invoice?
Your SIREN/SIRET, and your TVA intracommunautaire number if you’re VAT-registered, plus a unique sequential invoice number. Add them to the business and notes fields so the facture is compliant.
